Be Yr Man 05:19
I’ve turned into the windowsill in your bedroom I’ve turned into a desk on the floor with some leg room I’ve been hiding out underneath your covers I’ve been trying to find out if I could be your lover We are the same I want to hold your hand we are the same I want to meet your friends we are the same I want to do what I can we are the same I wanna be your man but I can’t I’ve turned into the doorway into your living room I feel like an old guitar that is out of tune I am out of tune I’ve been outside your door screaming for a little while I’ve been trying to find out if I could be your style We are the same I want to hold your hand we are the same I want to meet your friends we are the same I want to do what I can we are the same I wanna be your man but I can’t Even lakes and ponds feel the tides sometimes underwater I believe everything is fine I’ve been trying hard to make sense of this honey aren’t you glad this isn’t ambiguous heavy mess We are the same I want to hold your hand we are the same I want to meet your friends we are the same I want to do what I can we are the same I wanna be your man but I can’t

Bloom 09:26
Nobody tells me to pay attention my mama don’t care what I’m best at daddy thinks he tried or so it seems I spend too much time alone nobody calls me on the phone most of my friends have died and I don’t mind at all Awo I wanna scream at the moon with you I wanna make your mouth move me and you in the spring time I wanna see you bloom All the witches that lived in salem they all died well who could blame them every time you lose you lose control If your heart’s not human then I can’t break it I’m not gunna try and take it you gotta hand it over on your own Awo I wanna scream at the moon with you I wanna make your mouth move me and you in the springtime I wanna see you bloom When it happened it happened like a slowed down scene the world continued turning but at half the speed I know that everyone must see it When it hit me it hit me like a wall of sound in through my ears I fall to the ground I know I’ve got a lot to learn Awo I wanna scream at the moon with you I wanna make your mouth move me and you in the spring time I wanna see you bloom

about

"Meg Duffy has been a fixture, as a guitarist, in the Hudson Valley indie scene and with Hand Habits forms the core of a very tidy, talented, and evolving four-piece band. Small Shifts... might at first seem somewhat daunting - it consists of one 6-minute long song and one 9-minutes long. You might think a major commitment is required to appreciate Hand Habits, but you will be surprised. Duffy’s reverb-drenched voice, acoustic guitar, and electric noise hanging out in the shadows, are a transportive device. You can sit and listen hard for the subtle electronics and try to untangle the lyrics, or you can put it on and drift through the day, just like Duffy’s wandering voice."
- Nat Lyon, Louder Than War

"'Be Yr Man' is a sleepy, sparse, dream pop reverie. Filled with a pervasive melancholy, Duffy’s vocals are languorous but crystalline, even as they’re dipped into a soupy concoction of noise that seems to highlight their trepidation. Duffy’s vocals are clear but they’re anything but anthemic. 'Be Yr Man' doesn’t have the righteous fury of your garden variety heartbreak ballad – instead Duffy seems to revel in her vulnerability and doubt. It’s a display of weakness that’s far more charming than it is pitiable."
- I Guess I'm Floating
